About McFarlane Trust

McFarlane Trust welcomes people who want to use their skills and experience to make a meaningful difference as a Trustee. We are a small, friendly and inclusive not-for-profit organisation providing person-centred support and accommodation for adults with learning disabilities. Established in 1995, we are committed to helping people live with choice, control and dignity. We provide high-quality, integrated services tailored to the needs of each individual. Our outcome-focused approach helps the people who use our services to have choice, control and the opportunity to live the life they choose.

Our Services at a Glance

• We provide support and accommodation in a variety of settings across East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire.
• Our team includes more than 130 management and care staff.
• We are highly regarded by local authority commissioners, the Care Inspectorate, and most importantly, by the people who use our services and their families. 

The Role

As a Trustee, you will help shape the strategic direction of McFarlane Trust. You will support strong governance and leadership, helping staff to deliver high-quality care. The role is strategic, supportive and focused on making a positive difference.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome interest from people who have recently retired or are still working and would like to contribute in a voluntary capacity. Experience in the following areas would be particularly valuable:

• Health and social care
• Financial management and accountancy
• Human resources
• Information technology
• Business management
• Broader life experience and a commitment to our values

Time Commitment

Board meetings are held at least four times a year at our headquarters, Abbey Mill Business Centre, Paisley, and usually last between two and two and a half hours.
