Laura moved into Glencally on the 11th of May 2025. 

Laura has come from her parent’s house as Laura’s relationship with her mum was breaking down due to the continuous arguments and the deuteriation of Laura’s dad’s health. 

Before moving in Laura had a series of planned visits, planned by Laura’s mum, social worker Fiona McLaughlin, and senior management in Glencally. This included a sleepover, which allowed Laura to familiarize herself with her new surroundings and begin building relationships with staff and her housemates. Laura already knew Paula and Sandra from the day centre which helped her settle in. 

Laura’s room was fully furnished to her taste ensuring Laura would feel more comfortable in a more welcoming and familiar space. 

Laura has made the transition from home to Glencally with ease and has become an integral part of the family. Laura continues to develop and thrive in her environment building friendships and getting to know staff. Laura has also started attending weight watchers, gym and college along with a new club Laura and her housemate attend and enjoys.

Laura has continued to grow in confidence and independence as she now travels to the centre by herself, Laura has been on shopping trips with her key worker and has begun to pick out items of clothing and shoes by herself with confidence as before Laura would be anxious and find it overwhelming making decisions or choosing, Laura chooses where to go for outings/lunch and dinners.
