The team at McFarlane Trust are happy to announce that we have completed the move into our new building within the Abbey Mill Business Centre.

The Abbey Mill Business Centre consists of four neighbouring former mill buildings in the heart of Paisley, just outside Glasgow. The mills manufactured thread for the Scottish textile industry before the last working mill closed in 1923. Prior to this, they provided employment and livelihood for generations of local people.

Once an important part of the local Scottish thread industry, Abbey Mill Business Centre is now home to a huge variety of start-ups, charities, call centres, creative agencies, SMEs, and branches of international organisations.

The extensive building renovations have preserved the historic character of Abbey Mill, while creating forward-looking, serviced office space for Paisley’s growing business and creative sector. The historic offices pay homage to the city’s proud industrial heritage. They also maintain these amazing buildings as a living part of the modern economy.

The building is full of character; from historical features to elaborate refurbishments. We are happy to be situated in Mile End Mill – one of the finest surviving mill buildings in Scotland. This creatively designed building has been part of the city skyline since 1897 and holds Grade A national importance today. The original boiler house chimney stands south of the mill as a momentous 242 feet landmark visible across Paisley.

Our move from our previous office in Clarkson to Paisley has given us the opportunity to be closer to the community. We are excited to put our roots down in Paisley and become part of the local business and healthcare landscape. We are also thrilled that our new building allows us to accommodate visitors easily.
