"Support & Teamwork"

Here at McFarlane Trust, we offer our staff a comprehensive training and development programme including face to face and online training opportunities. This consist of mandatory courses such as Moving and Handling, Infection Prevention and Control, First Aid and Adult Support and Protection.

In addition we offer training which is specific to a service, individuals or a staff team. This includes Epilepsy Awareness, Autism Awareness, Mental Health First Aid and Conflict Management.

We also offer all staff the opportunity to achieve a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Health and Social Care, levels 2,3 and 4, fully funded by McFarlane Trust. As well as increasing their knowledge and skills, an SVQ helps staff to gain registration with the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC), who are the regulators for all social care workers in Scotland.

Following attendance at a course, staff complete a training report where they share their thoughts on the course and how they will put this learning into practise. From the comments below from the training provided by Effective Solutions Training, the sessions were a tremendous success.

It was amazing – gave us an awareness of our own mental health as well as how to recognise others suffering and how to managed the symptoms and deal with the risks.

Very enjoyable and worthwhile – learned a lot and made me think.”

Course was well presented and put together.

Thoroughly enjoyed it the activities were good and made us think more about reporting events afterwards.”

As well as being a learning experience, it would appear that staff have fun too. Our thanks to Effective Solutions Training!
